“Holiday in Istanbul” on the Rise

The number of holidaymakers in Istanbul is high up. According to the statement made by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the number of tourists coming to Istanbul increased in August.

Number of tourists coming to Istanbul increased by 37% in August.

In August 2017, 1.247.384 foreign visitors came to Istanbul. In August 2016 this figure was 908.663. Thus, compared to August 2016, the number of tourists coming to Istanbul in August 2017 increased by 37%.

When we look at the first eight months of 2017, the number of foreign visitors coming to Istanbul was 6.952.086. The same period last year was 6.274.807, with a change of 10.8%.

The decline that started in 2016 is stopped and it is seen that it has risen again.

In the first eight months of 2017, Germans who prefer Istanbul are on the top, while Iranians is the second and Saudi Arabians is the third.

  1. Germans: 9.4% (656.428)
  2. Iranians: 7.6% (526.084)
  3. Saudi Arabia: 5.9% (413.273)
  4. Iraqis: 5.1% (354.209)
  5. Russians: 4.3% (300,270)
  6. English: 3.5% (246.423)
  7. French: 3.5% (244.224)
  8. Ukrainians: 2.9% (200,279)
  9. Americans: 2.9% (199.916)
  10. Kuwaitis: 2.6% (183,879)
  11. Dutch: 2.4% (170,245)
  12. Turkmen: 2.1% (143.972)
  13. Azerbaijanis: 2.0% (140,048)
  14. Algerians: 1.9% (129.349)
